The USAF aims to leverage recent technological advancements in the mixed reality ecosystem. The current state of pilot training is limited by closed systems and outdated technology, driving a need to revolutionize advanced synthetic flight training by replicating “outside the cockpit” visual environments with unprecedented fidelity and capability. This bespoke and lightweight goggle should offer increased visual acuity, greater depth perception, higher refresh rates, a full field of view (FOV) and field of regard (FOR), and the ability to operate in secure environments.
