Finnish Center for Artificial Intelligence Offers Free, Six-Part Online Course

The Finnish Center for Artificial Intelligence is currently offering a free six-part online course, ‘The Elements of AI,” available to anyone interested in learning what AI is, what is possible (and not possible) with AI, and how it affects our lives – with no complicated math or programming required. The course was developed through a collaboration between the University of Helsinki and Reaktor, a tech strategy company. The course is a part of the AI Education program of the Finnish Center for AI, and offered in cooperation with The Open University, and Mooc.fi.

The course is divided into 6 parts:

  1. What is AI?
  2. Solving problems with AI
  3. Real world AI
  4. Machine learning
  5. Neural networks
  6. Implications

The Finnish Center for Artificial Intelligence (FCAI) is a joint project of Aalto University and the University of Helsinki. FCAI works towards the next generation of AI that is interactive, dependable, and data-efficient. It aims to boost and extend AI research and its applications by bringing together universities, industrial actors and the public sector. It’s educational offerings include AI courses available to students in other programs, Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral level degrees in AI, free and open online courses, public outreach events, and supporting robotics and coding clubs for elementary school students.

Those completing at least 90% of the exercises, of which 50% are correct, will receive a LinkedIn certificate. The course is available from May 14, 2018 and registration information may be found here.
