Commercial Space at the State Level

Live Date: June 17 at 11:00 am ET

When commercial space entrepreneurs pursue external funding, they often rely on private sources, like angels or VCs, or public sector funding from government agencies at the national level. In the modern era of LEO development, however, there is another avenue for financial support: state-level governmental agencies.

The Texas Space Commission has distributed $150 million in grant funding to further develop technologies and companies in the state and is preparing for another round in the future. These grants have been awarded to businesses, nonprofits, and governmental entities, including institutions of higher education, involved in space exploration, research, or the aeronautics industry.

Join Norman Garza from the Texas Space Commission and Jonathan Jakischa from National Technology Alliance (NTA) as they present an overview of state-level funding for commercial space activities: how state funding works, how to stand out when applying for funding, identifying other state-level resources for assistance, and more. We welcome interested researchers and startups from Texas, the broader United States of America and beyond to learn about this exciting pathway to engage with state leaders and support new commercial space ventures and research!
